About this deal

David Walliams' The Midnight Gang rolls into Her Majesty's". The Courier. 1 April 2021. ProQuest 2511070672. On the dark side of the characters, we have Matron - oh, she is dastardly all right, mean, hates children! Why on earth is she in charge of the children's ward? I was quite moved in the concluding chapters as it all comes together for Tom and his new friends, and really enjoyed the constant gentle humour and simple story. Bearn, Emily (3 December 2016). "The Midnight Gang proves David Walliams just keeps getting better – review". The Daily Telegraph. Archived from the original on 28 February 2023 . Retrieved 28 February 2023.

Full to the brim with heart-warming characters and witty humour, The Midnight Gang is sure to be a Walliams classic. Fargnoli, Dave (24 July 2017). "The Midnight Gang: "Fun david walliams' adaptation" ". The Stage. ProQuest 1927854761. Archived from the original on 28 February 2023 . Retrieved 28 February 2023. I am absolutely positive that I will read another books written by David Williams and love them as well.

Walliamsia on rasittavuuteen asti verrattu Roald Dahliin, ja onhan heidän tuotannossaan jotakin yhteneväisyyksiä. Lasten täytyy tässäkin päihittää nokkeluudellaan useampia karikatyyrimaisia hirviöaikuisia, jotka tuovat mieleen Matilda -romaanin antagonistit. Walliams on kuitenkin esikuvaansa kesympi ja sovinnaisempi, eikä uskalla loppuratkaisussa painaa kaasua ihan pohjaan, vaikka mahdollisuuksia siihen olisi ollut. Vitsitkin ovat vähän liian peppupainotteisia minun makuuni. OMG! This was the sweetest, cutest little book ever. I am now proud to say that I am a David Walliams fan! Just as I am a Roald Dahl fan. As a mum in my forties, I may be a bit older than The Midnight Gang’s target audience, but words like ‘Midnight’ and ‘Gang’ still conjure up exciting childhood memories of sleepovers, midnight feasts and hanging out with friends. As a child, there was something thrilling about being up beyond my usual bedtime, especially if the grown-ups were asleep. In fact, I can vividly remember some of my own midnight adventures, like the time I crept downstairs and stole all the chocolate from my sister’s advent calendar. Or the time I raided the fridge, drank a whole bottle of penicillin and had to have my stomach pumped… Never read anything by David Williams before, I saw a review on Goodreads about this one so decided to try it out. As the crumbling hospital and it’s colourful inhabitants provide the setting for the children’s midnight escapades, Walliams both entertains and amuses, whilst delicately weaving a message of friendship, loyalty and not judging a book by its cover along the way. There are tough themes too, where the illness of one of the children is never named, but adults and some children will understand it’s seriousness. Yet, despite some of the challenges the character’s face, it’s a story of kindness, hope and living in the moment.

Get started Close I've read each one of David Walliams' novels for children, and this is now probably in my top three (after Boy in the Dress and Billionaire Boy). The clever use of fonts and text layout make it fun and easy to read as it is not too text heavy and is interspersed with expressive and funny illustrations. The Midnight Gang itself is lovely, an inspired if not altogether unique idea, but it is what it means that is really wonderful - at the heart of the book is the idea of doing things for others, being there for your friends, a message embedded nicely by Walliams throughout the story. Bravo, David - I hope this does well. It will be a lovely Christmas Day adaptation as well. Will you be playing Tootsie this time?I can thoroughly recommend David Walliams’ latest children’s book, The Midnight Gang. It deserves to become a much-loved classic, with a wonderful warmth and tenderness mingled with humour that sets it above some of Roald Dahl’s ‘spikier’ tales. Augusta, Caitlin (1 December 2017). "The Midnight Gang". School Library Journal. Archived from the original on 28 February 2023 . Retrieved 28 February 2023.

George LOVES chocolates, he also has a secret supply of "sleeping snoozers" which seem to find their way into the chocolates frequently when Matron is on night duty......... The Midnight Gang is a children's book written by David Walliams and illustrated by Tony Ross. It was released by HarperCollins on November 3, 2016. The story follows a boy called Thomas "Tom" Charper going to a cruel hospital and joining a "midnight gang" consisting of the facility's other children. The midnight gang will be on my children nightstand for Avery long time because and that's what make it a great children book.

Eisenhart, Mary (3 June 2019). "The Midnight Gang. Book review by Mary Eisenhart, Common Sense Media". Common Sense Media. Archived from the original on 27 February 2023 . Retrieved 28 February 2023. Midnight is the time when all children are fast asleep, except of course for...the Midnight Gang. That is when their adventures are just beginning.... The brightest Character, filled with love and concern for the children, is Porter. He was left as an orphan on the steps of Lord Funt Hospital, so he has no other name, except Porter, his job is just that, a Porter to move people and things around the hospital. Where oh where does Porter live? Must people "shy away" from Porter due to his facial features, but a more loving soul one could not find at the hospital, especially the Midnight Gang.
