About this deal

They are made with Fit Knit technology and it provides you with a close-to-foot fit which is lighter, softer, and more breathable than before. The sole uses Brooks’ a DNA AMP midsole. This is Brooks’ answer to energy returning foam that everyone seems to have these days. I'm still skeptical and think that it might just be my feet, but I've never experienced anything quite like this. I've run hundreds of miles in Brooks, Altra, Hoka, Nike, Vibram, Vivobarefoot, North Face, and Salomon shoes. Brooks touts this shoe's energy return, but I don't feel like this is where the shoe shines. Yes, there's energy return, but no more than what I feel when running in a lightly cushioned alternative. The knitted fabric really wraps the foot well and complements the burrito wrap design of the tongue.

These GuideRails act as a holistic approach to support. They are aimed at keeping your ankles, legs, knees and hips aligned through the gait cycle while reducing unwanted side-to-side motion. There’s also excellent rear-foot support from the firm, exoskeletal heel counter. The midsole also contains the GuideRails technology. It's basically a sidewall on top of the foam that keeps your foot stable.

GuideRails, dense plates in the sole are what give the Bedlam its stability. I could tell from the start how much the shoe adjusted and kept me from over pronating. Things started off nicely. I felt like the Bedlam 2 delivered a fair amount of cushion on the ride, though the stiffness and rigidity of the outsole were prevalent. Seriously, these shoes are stiff! In a nutshell: my hallux rigidus (basically stiffness in the big toe) was causing my foot to pronate on impact.Though the Bedlam’s stability will soon be a remnant of the past (the new Adrenaline GTS 19 debuts an updated GuideRails support system that’s lighter and even more subtle), testers found the support they on their runs. Said a tester, “Very stable and decent support for an overpronator who doesn't need much cushion.” So, if you're not a pronator, go ahead and look elsewhere. And if you pronate just the slightest, a minimum to moderate stability shoe is probably more up your alley. What makes this technology incredible to me is that Brooks decided not to patent it, but to offer it as a “open source” innovation for any other shoe producer to use. Way to go! Brooks DNA I guess I’ve been coddled into the luxury of an era of 7 to 9 oz running shoes. By any measure, these are not heavy shoes. The extra weight could likely reflect a higher quality of construction and material that will stand the test of time compared to the ultra-light shoe.

It's hard to tell if the DNA AMP in the midsole is delivering on the cushioning department since my feet kill me when running. Noted that my feet don't hurt when I'm barefoot running or running in minimalist shoes. As your foot strikes the ground, the segments work together to customize your individual lay down to provide the right amount of cushion and seamless heel-to-toe transition for you – making the most of all that effort you put into each stride.
